Tai Chi Zero is set in the legendary Chen Village, where martial arts mastery is a way of life, and the Chen Style Tai Chi is central to the villagers' daily routines. The story follows Yang Lu Chan, portrayed by Xiaochao Yuan, who arrives in the village eager to learn the secrets of Chen Style Tai Chi. However, the tradition forbids teaching outsiders, and the villagers — including Third Granduncle Chen, played by Stanley Fung — challenge him with fights he inevitably loses, showcasing the formidable power of Tai Chi. The plot takes a dramatic turn when a man from the village's past returns, wielding a steampunk-style machine and intent on constructing a railroad through Chen Village. Faced with this threat, the villagers are forced to reconsider their stance and place their trust in Lu Chan, who harbors a mysterious, unique power himself.
