Kurt Vogel Russell, born on March 17, 1951, is a seasoned American actor who started his career in television at the tender age of 12, featuring in the western series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters (1963-1964). He then went on to sign a ten-year contract with The Walt Disney Company, where he became their leading star of the 1970s. During this time, he starred in a series of films as Dexter Riley, including The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969), Now You See Him, Now You Don't (1972), and The Strongest Man in the World (1975).

Russell's acting prowess was recognized with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his performance in Mike Nichols' Silkwood (1983). He also received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the television film Elvis (1979).

In the 1980s, Russell starred in several films directed by John Carpenter, playing anti-hero roles such as Snake Plissken in Escape from New York (1981) and its sequel Escape from L.A. (1996), as well as in The Thing (1982) and Big Trouble in Little China (1986).
