Cary Elwes, born on October 26, 1962, is the third child of interior designer and shipping heiress Tessa Kennedy and the late portrait painter Dominick Elwes. He has two siblings: a producer/agent named Cassian Elwes and an artist named Damian Elwes. Cary was born and raised in London, where he attended the prestigious Harrow School. After completing his studies at Harrow, he moved to the United States to pursue his passion for acting at Sarah Lawrence College. However, he left college after two years to kickstart his film career.

Cary is highly regarded in the industry and is considered one of the most talented young actors of his time. He has a keen interest in history, which is reflected in his choice of roles, as he has appeared in several period dramas. In addition to his acting career, Cary is also politically active and advocates for causes he believes in, such as environmental conservation and supporting Native American communities.
