Max has just graduated from school and is navigating the challenging transition into adulthood. Eager to carve out a life for himself beyond his mother's protective care, he embarks on a journey toward independence. His relationship with Kaya becomes a catalyst in this process, as she encourages him to take the crucial step of moving out on his own.

Seeking a new environment, Max initially moves in with his father but soon finds himself lodging with their neighbour, Steen Kold.
