Takuya Eguchi as Akihiko Kaji (voice)

Takuya Eguchi

Akihiko Kaji (voice)
Takuya Eguchi delivered a compelling and emotionally resonant performance as Akihiko Kaji in the anime movie 'Given', based on the popular BL manga by Natsuki Kizu. As the voice of the enigmatic and passionate Kaji, Eguchi beautifully captures the character's internal struggles and growth throughout the narrative. Kaji, a university student and experienced seme who is initially depicted as aloof and emotionally detached, especially from his own feelings, undergoes a profound transformation as he navigates his complex relationship with the protagonist, Ritsuka Uenoyama, voiced by Shougo Yano. Eguchi's voice work is nuanced, conveying Kaji's initial resistance to vulnerability, his internal conflict, and the eventual softening of his demeanor as he opens up to love and confronts his past traumas. His interactions with Uenoyama are particularly poignant, as Eguchi's performance adds depth to the tender and sometimes tumultuous moments between the characters, making their evolving romance a highlight of the film. Eguchi's portrayal of Kaji is a testament to his ability to breathe life into multifaceted characters, ensuring that Akihiko Kaji is not just remembered as a character, but as a person whose journey feels genuine and whose emotional arc leaves a lasting impression on the audience.
