Thrash

"Thrash" is a gripping blend of intense natural disaster and suspenseful horror that offers more than just adrenaline-pumping shark attacks. The film's compelling charm lies in its realistic portrayal of a community battling not only the raw fury of a Category 5 hurricane but also the terrifying aftermath brought by ravenous sharks invading their homes. Exceptional performances bring depth to the characters, making their struggles and fears deeply relatable and emotionally charged. The story masterfully balances chaos and human resilience, while stunning visuals capture both the ferocity of the storm and the lurking menace beneath the waters. "Thrash" is perfect for fans of disaster thrillers and creature features who appreciate a story grounded in human emotion amid high-stakes peril.

Even for a shark B-movie, Thrash is particularly thin and silly, with stock characters and a premise that Aja tackled with far more bite. The sharks themselves feel intangible and offer little suspense, while the opening flood is awash in unpolished CGI. Still, you can’t fault it going for broke in the final act, chucking dynamite explosions, maternal rage and Vanessa Carlton’s Millennial classic ‘A Thousand Miles’ into the mix to undeniably entertaining effect — if you’ve stuck it out that far.
