The Delinquents

Los delincuentes

In the bustling city of Buenos Aires, Morán leads an unremarkable life as a bank clerk, blending into the background while his colleagues pay little attention to him. His quiet, unnoticed existence masks a brewing storm beneath the surface. One evening, over dinner with his coworker Román, Morán shocks him with a confession: he has stolen $650,000 from the bank, a sum exactly double what he would have earned if he had worked until retirement. This revelation sets the stage for a high-stakes moral dilemma.

Morán's decision to confess stems from a deep sense of guilt and the desire to face the consequences of his actions. Despite his intentions to turn himself in, he concocts a plan that involves Román directly. Morán offers to split the stolen money with Román on the condition that Román agrees to hide the cash while Morán serves his prison sentence. This proposal forces Román into a precarious position, challenging his loyalty, ethics, and trust in his colleague.

As the narrative unfolds, the two men navigate a complex web of friendship, betrayal, and survival. The story delves into the psychological and emotional turmoil experienced by Morán, who grapples with remorse and the anticipation of incarceration, as well as Román, who must decide whether to risk everything for a share of the illicit fortune. "The Delinquents" explores themes of greed, conscience, and the consequences of one's choices in the shadowy world of crime and punishment.
