Stripes

"Stripes" follows the misadventures of John Winger, a down-on-his-luck cab driver played by Bill Murray. After getting fired from his job and broken up with by his girlfriend, John finds himself at a crossroads in life. Seeking a fresh start and a sense of purpose, he decides to join the U.S. Army alongside his close friend Russell Ziskey, portrayed by Harold Ramis. Both men enter the military with little direction but big hopes for change.

During basic training, John's performance is far from exemplary; his irreverent attitude and laid-back approach clash with the strict military regimen. Despite his challenges, he inadvertently becomes the unlikely leader of a ragtag group of misfit recruits, each struggling to find their place in the armed forces. John's unique style galvanizes the group, turning them into a cohesive unit bound by camaraderie and humor.

The plot thickens when John's rebellious antics lead him and his team behind enemy lines, accidentally commandeering a military assault vehicle.
