In "Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!", the story begins with Ash Ketchum, an eager young Trainer with big dreams, oversleeping and waking up late because he accidentally broke his alarm clock. Rushing to Professor Oak's laboratory, Ash hopes to finally begin his Pokémon journey. However, he learns that the classic starter Pokémon—Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander—have already been claimed by other Trainers who arrived on time. Disheartened but determined, Ash contemplates his options.
Professor Oak then reveals a surprise: he has one final Pokémon available, an Electric-type named Pikachu. Unlike the usual starters, Pikachu has a spirited and unpredictable personality and refuses to stay inside a Poké Ball. Despite this challenging demeanor and Pikachu's initial resistance, Ash chooses to bond with him and embarks on his journey together.
Throughout the movie, viewers witness the forming of a unique friendship between Ash and Pikachu as they face various adventures and obstacles. Rica Matsumoto brilliantly voices Ash, bringing his youthful enthusiasm to life, while Ikue Otani gives Pikachu an unforgettable and expressive voice. Their partnership highlights themes of trust, perseverance, and the unbreakable bond between Trainer and Pokémon as they set out on an unforgettable quest.
