His father, Stuart Anderson, was an educator at a nearby high school, while his mother, Jocelyn, was a gifted artist who excelled in both sculpting and painting. Richard, along with his two younger siblings, Thomas John and James Stuart, spent their formative years in the charming suburb of Roseville. During this time, Richard cultivated a deep appreciation for sports, jazz music, and the art of acting.
