About Paul Blackthorne
Paul Blackthorne is an accomplished British actor born in Shropshire, England in 1969. He began his acting journey at the age of 12 with the National Youth Music Theatre at the Edinburgh Festival. After studying the Spiritual Psychology of Acting in London from 1996 to 1998, he embarked on a career in British TV and film. Blackthorne gained international recognition portraying the villainous Captain Russell in the Oscar-nominated film Lagaan in 2000. This role brought him to Los Angeles, where he appeared in popular American TV series such as 24, ER, The Dresden Files, Lipstick Jungle, Deadwood, and Burn Notice. He is perhaps best known for his role as Detective Quentin Lance on the CWs hit series Arrow, which was nominated for Best New Drama at the Peoples Choice Awards in 2013. In addition to acting, Blackthorne is an accomplished photographer and exhibitor, with several exhibitions raising money for charitable causes such as Greenpeace, Indian earthquake victims, and Tibetan children's villages. He also made his directorial debut with the documentary This American Journey, focusing on travel across America and exploring the hopes and perspectives of everyday people. Alongside his creative pursuits, he is involved in educational projects including the release of the 'Forte' app, designed to teach children how to read music.
