About Olga Kurylenko
Olga Kurylenko was born on November 14, 1979, in the seaside city of Berdyansk, Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union. Following her birth, her mother, Marina Alyabysheva, faced challenges, divorcing Olga's father, Konstantin Kurylenko, and raising Olga with the support of her grandmother, Raisa. The family often struggled, experiencing the hardships of poverty; young Olga had to wear ragged clothes and mend her sweaters. Despite these challenges, she immersed herself in the arts, studying various subjects, including languages, music, and dance, attending a musical school for seven years and ballet classes until she was 13.
At the age of 13, a pivotal moment occurred during a trip to Moscow when an agent discovered Olga at a subway station and offered her a modeling opportunity. Although her mother had initial reservations, Olga embraced this chance and trained as a model in Moscow. By 16, she had made the transition to Paris, where she quickly picked up the French language in just six months and signed with the Madison agency. By 18, her modeling career soared, landing her on the covers of prestigious magazines like Glamour, Elle, Madame Figaro, Marie Claire, and Vogue, while also becoming the prominent face for Lejaby lingerie and recognizable brands such as Bebe and Clarins.
In 1999, Olga married French photographer Cedric Van Mol, but the union lasted just three and a half years. Turning her ambitions towards acting, Olga joined an agency that eventually led her to trade the runway for the silver screen. She made her film debut in 2005, portraying Iris in Diane Bertrand's film "L'annulaire."
Her career momentum continued with performances alongside Elijah Wood in "Paris, je t'aime" (2006) and as Sofia in "Le serpent" (2006). She became known for her role as Nika Boronina, a Russian femme fatale, in "Hitman" (2007) alongside Timothy Olyphant, and starred as Camille, the iconic Bond girl in "Quantum of Solace" (2008), a sequel to "Casino Royale" (2006).
