About Jon Cryer

Meet Jon Cryer, an accomplished American actor, writer, director, and producer, born on April 16, 1965, to the talented actress-singer Gretchen Cryer. Jon first appeared on the big screen in the 1984 romantic comedy No Small Affair, but his breakthrough role came as "Duckie" in the iconic 1986 film Pretty in Pink.

In 1998, Jon added another feather to his cap by writing, producing, and starring in the well-received independent film Went to Coney Island on a Mission from God... Be Back by Five. While he gained some recognition in movies, it took him a few more years to make it big on television.

Despite not-so-successful runs in shows like The Famous Teddy Z, Partners, and The Trouble with Normal, Jon finally struck gold in 2003 when he joined the cast of the hit CBS comedy series Two and a Half Men as Alan Harper, alongside Charlie Sheen. His fantastic performance earned him a Primetime Emmy Award in 2009, with three earlier nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for the same show.
