About John Cena

Meet John Felix Anthony Cena, a man of many talents! He's an American professional wrestler, actor, and former rapper, currently signed to WWE. With a whopping 16 world championship reigns under his belt, he's tied with Ric Flair for the most in professional wrestling history.

Born and raised in West Newbury, Massachusetts, Cena headed to California in 1998 to chase his dreams as a bodybuilder. He made the leap to pro wrestling the following year, debuting for Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW). In 2001, he joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE), starting out at Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). Cena first gained fame as a trash-talking rapper, and in 2004, he snagged his first singles title, the United States Championship. The very next year, he became the WWE Champion for the first time, transforming into a "Superman-like" hero that would lead the company for the next decade.

As a 16-time world champion, Cena has won the WWE Championship a record-breaking 13 times, and has also nabbed the United States Championship five times, the world tag team title four times, and has even won the Royal Rumble match twice. He's headlined several major WWE pay-per-view events, including their flagship show, WrestleMania, an impressive five times. Cena's pro wrestling career has garnered mixed reviews, with some praising his character work and promotional skills, but others criticizing his on-screen presence and supposed over-representation.

Cena made his acting debut in The Marine (2006), and has since earned rave reviews for his performances in Trainwreck (2015), Ferdinand (2017), Blockers, and Bumblebee (both 2018). He starred in F9 and portrayed Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad (both 2021), and even had his own TV series. His first studio album, You Can't See Me (2005), went platinum.

Outside of entertainment, Cena is well-known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where he's granted over 650 wishes, more than any other celebrity.
