About Guy Ritchie
Meet Guy Stuart Ritchie, an English filmmaker who has made a name for himself in the world of cinema with his unique storytelling and direction. After leaving school at 15, Ritchie worked his way up in the film industry, starting with entry-level jobs and eventually directing television commercials.
His directorial debut came in 1995 with the short film "The Hard Case," followed by the critically acclaimed crime comedy "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" in 1998. Ritchie gained further recognition with his second film, "Snatch," which was both a critical and commercial success.
Despite some setbacks with films like "Swept Away" and "Revolver," Ritchie bounced back with the hit films "Sherlock Holmes" and "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," the former earning two Academy Award nominations.
Ritchie has also directed remakes of classic television series, such as "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and "Aladdin," the latter of which earned over $1 billion worldwide and became one of the highest-grossing films of 2019.
Ritchie returned to his roots with the crime comedy "The Gentlemen" in 2019, which was mostly well-received and a commercial success. Most recently, he directed Jason Statham in the action film "Wrath of Man" in 2021.
From crime comedies to big-budget blockbusters, Ritchie has proven himself to be a versatile and talented filmmaker.
