Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a man of many talents and accomplishments. Born in the United States to a Black Canadian father and a Samoan mother, Johnson's lineage is a diverse and fascinating one. His father, Rocky Johnson, was a professional wrestler and one of the first Black tag team champions in WWE history. His mother's side of the family is also steeped in wrestling tradition, with his grandfather, Peter Maivia, also a pro wrestler and his grandmother, Lia Maivia, one of wrestling's few female promoters.
Johnson's connection to his Samoan heritage runs deep. He was bestowed with the noble title of Seiuli by Malietoa Tanumafili II during a visit to Samoa in 2004, and he received a partial Samoan pe'a tattoo in 2003. In 2017, he covered a small "Brahma bull" tattoo on his right arm with a larger half-sleeve tattoo of a bull's skull.
