About Daniel Mays
Daniel Mays, born Daniel Alan Mays on March 31, 1978, in Epping, Essex, England, is a renowned actor celebrated for his performances in films such as "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn" (2011), "The Bank Job" (2008), and "Atonement" (2007). A versatile performer, Mays has appeared in five plays at London's Royal Court Theatre, including two specially written roles during the theatre's 50th Anniversary season. His outstanding work in the improvised BBC film "Rehab" earned him the Best Actor award at the Palmare Television Festival in 2003. Mays has also collaborated twice with acclaimed British director Mike Leigh, starring in "All or Nothing" (2002) and the 1950s abortion drama "Vera Drake" (2004), the latter of which garnered three Academy Award nominations, the Golden Lion Award for Best Film, three BAFTA Awards, and six British Independent Film Awards including Best British Independent Film. He is the son of Toni Mays.
