Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, born on January 16, 1982, in Hillerød, Denmark, is a renowned Danish actress celebrated for her dynamic performances. Growing up in Birkerød, she developed a passion for acting after witnessing the West End musical Chicago during her school years. She honed her craft at the Danish National School of Performing Arts, graduating before making her acting debut in 2005 with a minor role in the television series The Eagle. Sørensen's career gained momentum as she portrayed Roxie Hart in Copenhagen's production of Chicago, later reprising the role on the West End. Her significant breakthrough came with her portrayal of journalist Katrine Fønsmark in the acclaimed political drama series Borgen, which aired from 2010 to 2013. Throughout her career, she has earned critical recognition, including nominations for three Robert Awards and one Bodil Award.
