Asia Argento, born Aria Maria Vittoria Rossa Argento on September 20, 1975, is an accomplished Italian actress, singer, model, and director, coming from a deeply artistic family. She is the daughter of renowned Italian horror filmmaker Dario Argento and actress Daria di Nicolodi, and her artistic lineage includes her great-grandfather, composer Alfredo Casella. Asia began her acting career at the young age of nine with a small role in a Sergio Citti film and appeared in several of her father’s projects as a child, such as Demons 2 and La Chiesa. She has won Italy's David di Donatello Award for Best Actress twice in the mid-1990s and made her English-language debut in films like B. Monkey and New Rose Hotel in 1998. Remarkably multilingual, she has acted in Italian, English, and French, notably playing Charlotte de Sauve in the French film La Reine Margot. Argento is also an accomplished director, having helmed short films, documentaries about her father and Abel Ferrara, and feature films including her semi-autobiographical Scarlet Diva.
