About Mike and Angelo

"Mike and Angelo" is a delightful and quirky British science fiction television sitcom that aired on CITV from March 16, 1989, to March 7, 2000. The show revolves around the eccentric and endearing alien character named Angelo, portrayed by Shelley Thompson, who hails from another world and enters ours through a portal disguised as a wardrobe in one of the bedrooms.

The series begins with Mike King and his mother Rita (played by Helena Little) welcoming Angelo into their home. As the show progresses, Mike and Rita eventually move away, leaving Rita's nephew, Mike Mason (played by Tyler Butterworth), to continue living in the house with housekeeper Katy, portrayed by Katy Murphy. Throughout the series, Angelo and Mike embark on a myriad of wild and whimsical adventures within the confines of their shared residence. Angelo's boundless imagination and penchant for innovation often lead to zany inventions, gravity-defying antics, and wacky time-travel escapades that involve historical figures. These antics, much to Katy's displeasure, frequently result in chaos and hilarity, often leading her to exasperatedly exclaim, "ANGELO!!" in her distinctive Scottish accent or Rita in her Canadian accent. The Fawkes-Bentley family, their well-to-do neighbours, often serve as the backdrop for some of the show's amusing scenes.

The later seasons of "Mike and Angelo" brought about some changes in the cast. The 1999 series opened with Katy and Angelo reading a postcard from Mike, who was enjoying his time in America. With Mike absent, Daphne Fawkes-Bentley's niece, Michaela, assumed the role of Angelo's sidekick. The show's final season saw the addition of Katy's nephew, also named Mike, to the cast. The endearing and whimsical sitcom concluded its entertaining run in the year 2000.
