Louise, a resident of Brooklyn, is a young woman at a crossroads. Recently single and meandering through life, she dabbles in music but struggles to find direction. She battles with depression but is reluctant to admit it, often masking her feelings with alcohol. In a twist of fate, Louise finds herself in a physical therapy ward after a drunken stumble leads to a broken hip, an injury more commonly associated with the elderly. This unexpected setback forces Louise to confront her own mortality and the fragility of life.

In this unusual setting, Louise crosses paths with Antonina, a feisty Polish woman who speaks not a word of English. Despite their differences, Louise finds herself employed as Antonina's caregiver. This unlikely pairing is far from ideal for either of them, but it gradually becomes apparent that they have more in common than they initially realized. As they navigate their new relationship, both women are forced to confront the realities of aging and the inevitability of change.
