Steins;Gate è ambientato nel distretto di Akihabara a Tokyo. Il 28 luglio 2010 Rintarō Okabe e la sua amica Mayuri Shiina si dirigono all'edificio Radio Kaikan per una conferenza, luogo in cui Rintarō trova una ragazza di nome Kurisu Makise giacere in una pozza di sangue.
