I Miss Sonia Henie

Nedostaje mi Sonja Henie

"I Miss Sonja Henie" is an inventive and experimental film that brings together the creative energies of eight young directors, each contributing a short sketch to form a unique and captivating artistic tapestry. The entire project is confined to the intimate setting of a single attic, creating a sense of cohesion amid the diversity of styles and narratives. This anthology showcases a playful Dadaistic approach, blending surreal and abstract elements that challenge conventional storytelling.

Each filmmaker was given strict constraints to fuel their creativity: every segment had to be under three minutes long, set exclusively within the confines of one hotel room, and must incorporate the enigmatic line "I miss Sonja Henie." These guidelines fostered a distinctive atmosphere of experimentation, encouraging directors to explore mood, tone, and thematic resonance with brevity and inventiveness.

The film was shot over the course of just one night during the 1971 international film festival FEST in Belgrade, capturing a moment of spontaneous artistic collaboration and innovation. "I Miss Sonja Henie" stands as a testament to the power of creative constraints in filmmaking, offering viewers a kaleidoscopic blend of perspectives that celebrate both the rigidity and freedom of artistic expression.
