Director/co-writer Justin Tipping’s previous film, 2016’s Kicks, was a low-key, lightly surreal drama about a kid who thinks expensive sneakers will bring him the respect he craves, but finds attention can be dangerous. Him has similar themes, with every dial turned way up. Cam believes football is his route to fame and becoming the man his father envisioned, but the price of idolatry is far greater than he imagines. And White is going to make him pay it. Practice sessions end in bloodied, broken faces. A doctor keeps sticking Cam with mysterious syringes. Horrifying visions stalk him.

Marlon Wayans will appreciate his role in the movie 'HIM' because it showcases his versatility beyond his typical comedic performances. Unlike his most iconic role as Marcus in the '
Scary Movie' series, where he primarily focuses on comedy and parody, 'HIM' allows Wayans to delve into a more complex and nuanced character with dramatic elements. An interesting detail about his character in 'HIM' is that it was originally intended for a different actor, but Wayans was cast after a spontaneous audition where he managed to bring unexpected depth and humor to the role, highlighting his skills as both a comedian and a serious actor.
