Ghost Over Flowers

꽃보다 처녀귀신

In "Ghost Over Flowers," Yeong-woong makes a drastic life change by leaving his prestigious corporate job to work at a private loan company. His primary motivation is the desperate search for his girlfriend, who mysteriously disappeared after falling into overwhelming debt. The journey introduces Yeong-woong to Hong Doo-moon, a former gangster who has transformed his life by becoming a shaman. Hong Doo-moon intriguingly purchases a house by the river with loan money, setting the stage for a unique blend of supernatural and emotional storytelling.

Hong Doo-moon's life takes an unusual turn as he embarks on a spiritual asceticism, during which he encounters various ghosts seeking his assistance in fulfilling their unfinished desires. However, he selectively aids only the spirits of unmarried individuals, adding a layer of mystery to his practice. His main endeavor revolves around helping married couples restore their strained relationships through unorthodox sex therapy, where the ghosts possess the wives' bodies to teach them new intimacy techniques. This healing process comes with a haunting price, as after receiving the help, the wives are taken away by the Angel of Death.

Despite the eerie circumstances, Hong Doo-moon manages to settle all his debts with the support of Yeong-woong, forming a bond fueled by mutual help and shared struggles. Understanding Yeong-woong's plight, Hong Doo-moon agrees to assist him in the search for his missing girlfriend. Together, they navigate a world where the supernatural intertwines with human emotions, exploring themes of love, loss, and redemption in a story that blends suspense, fantasy, and heartfelt drama.
