About Gargoyles

"Gargoyles" is an animated television series that originally aired from 1994 to 1997, and it remains a beloved classic among fans of the genre. The show features a diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique personalities and motivations. Keith David provides the voice for Goliath, the formidable leader of a clan of gargoyles who are sworn to protect a medieval castle in Scotland, 994 A.D. Salli Richardson-Whitfield lends her voice to Elisa Maza, a smart and resourceful NYPD detective who becomes an unlikely ally to the gargoyles.
The series begins in Scotland, 994 A.D., where Goliath and his clan of gargoyles defend a medieval castle from various threats. These gargoyles are not just statues that come to life at night, but intelligent beings with a strong sense of duty and honor. However, their peaceful existence is shattered when they are betrayed and placed under a curse that turns them to stone, leaving them in a state of suspended animation for a thousand years.
The story then shifts to present-day New York City, where billionaire David Xanatos purchases the castle and has it relocated to the top of his Manhattan skyscraper. When the castle is attacked, the curse is broken, and Goliath and his clan are awakened, finding themselves in a modern world that is both strange and dangerous. With the help of Elisa, they must navigate the challenges of this new era, battle powerful enemies, and rediscover their place in the world. The series explores themes of justice, loyalty, and the struggle to uphold one's principles in a constantly changing environment.
