Nachdem in den 1950er Jahren im Ferienlager Camp Crystal Lake ein grausamer Doppelmord geschah, wurde die Anlage geschlossen. Zwanzig Jahre später möchte Steve Christy das Camp wieder in Betrieb nehmen. Deswegen hat er entgegen der Warnungen der Einheimischen eine Gruppe von Jugendlichen über die Sommersaison eingeladen, das Ferienlager zusammen mit ihm herzurichten.
