Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror was released directly to video in 1998, as the fifth installment in the Children of the Corn series. Starring Stacy Galina as Allison and Alexis Arquette as Greg, the film follows six college students who become lost in a rural town inhabited by a murderous cult of children. Upon its release, the movie received largely negative reviews, criticized for its low-budget production, lackluster writing, and departure from the original story's haunting atmosphere. However, over the years, its reputation has shifted somewhat among horror fans; some viewers have come to appreciate its campy tone and enjoy it as a cult classic for its nostalgic 90s horror vibe and quirky performances. While it is not generally regarded as a hidden gem, it has certainly outlasted its initial dismissal to become a cult favorite among fans of direct-to-video slashers and horror sequels.
